I was surfing the web looking for an obit of Rodney Simpson. I found this site and evrything you wrote reminded me of my youth. Rodney was probably my best friend in that era of 72 through 74. I was at the concert in the pasture outside Wewoka somewhere and listening to Truth. Rodney and I were friends at Seminole Juco till the end. I remember you Olin. I think I remember a party at Dickey and Sabras place at ajoining room at a funeral home where Dickey and Sabra lived. I still think of those days without a care or a thought of tomorrow. I lived in Seminole but the Tri city area was my home. Now Saint Louis, Mo. is my home with my wife and two kids sill at home. Keep living the good dream. I will look for your CD.

Was deleting a bunch of ancient e-mails and found one from one of my favorite people, the late David Bennett, saying to check out "Hold Me Close" and your other songs. Sadly, I hadn't. But now I have. Very nice music. I'm glad I finally discovered it.

Olin, I also loved your bio, your art-baby face & laughed when I saw the "Monday at Tucker's", and your music. I would not have survived Holdenville without the cool, talented guys, next door in Wewoka, OK. You look great and Obviously ARE great as always. I always knew you were special.

Dear Olin:
Got your website from David B. We've recently emailed after a 33 year lack of contact. Am really glad to see you looking so well and still pursuing the thing you love. Please tell Kathy hello for me. I hated all my babysitters except her. I always loved being with her. She was so sweet and gentle and never condescending. I also loved Donnie, who was ornery but sweet at the same time. I am so glad you are still married and happy. Merry Christmas to both of you. Denise (Lively)

Olin, ya beat us all to the finish line. Congrats on your music. We love it. It has inspired myself as well as other friends to follow. I enjoyed every time we played together and the big stage was the coolest gig I ever played. Yourself, Jon Minor. Jamie Saunders, were the reason I even started playing in the first place. Maybe we will get another chance someday. Thanks for everything and all the wonderful years of music and friendship.

Well old buddy, it looks like you've really done it this time. Thanx so much for the music. It brings back alot of memories. (for a moment there I felt like I was back in your wonderful Grandmother's living room jamming on the upright Grand!)I cannot begin to tell how proud I am of you. This is a great accomplishment and my hat is off to you. You do however give me too much credit in the bio, but I am very happy that I was able to share that small space in time with you, because you influenced much of my desire to be a better musician, and when I got lazy you pushed me to do more. I miss you and the guys and the music, and this c.d. will definitely help keep me in a happier and more productive frame of mind.Thank you so much. I'm gonna spread this around. Talk to you soon. Oh yeah, BRAVO!!!!!!!

Olin - We love the CD! My personal favorite, besides our weddding song, is Stacy Throw Me a Lifeline. David tells me you're taking a hiatus from music for awhile - I hope it's not too long. We're hoping for some new songs sometime in this lifetime! Donna B.

It's good to hear from you, Olin. Thanks for your nice comments on GarageBand.com. I haven't been over to GB in ages. Those reviews can sting sometimes, can't they? I quit submitting songs to GB way back. One thing was their lack of categories, so my songs were getting heard by the wrong ears (I notice now that they have a folk rock category). I also felt that GB gave people false hope. My song "On The Wind" received the "Track Of The Day" award and was going to be awarded the "Track Of The Week" in Folk/Country but, alas, GB went bankrupt and off the air 3 days before it was scheduled to happen. When the site came back up it seemed to be run by a bunch of idiots, and my pleas for reinstatement of my song fell on deaf ears. That song would have gone a lot higher in the ranks than where it eventually ended up. I pulled "Feel Like An Island" from competition early on because there again, I didn't feel that it was getting to the right audience (BTW, that's Jamie on mando). It's both funny and weird that FLAI wound up on top of my little pile of GB songs, resting quietly in the Back Catalog. But, I'm a bit jaded about the whole affair. I've lived in Tahlequah now for 6 years and have a little recording studio. My only claim to fame so far is I produced a demo for the band Simpleton which got them the opening slot for the All American Rejects a year or so ago. Hopefully soon there may be some voiceover and soundtrack work coming to me (if this documentary filmmaker comes through with his grant). My little webpage is growing dust at: http://www.tah-usa.net/jars . I've been listening to Jamie's stuff he sends me and as usual am blown away by his songs. Hopefully, I can help him get some better recording gear and then he's off to the races. As for your songs; I liked what I heard on GB. I really liked "Pink Sky". For some reason, the realplayer audio stream times out on your song segments on your website (BTW, NICE website!!), but I'll have to try them again later or better yet order the CD! Best of luck and keep the faith. Somebody has to!

I just got the CD. Man, the mail is slow. I'm listening to it right now. Sounds great so far. When do the others come out? I'm very anxious to hear them, too. You made me ashamed that I haven't put all my movies on a double-disc DVD like I've been planning on doing for the past year. I'll do that pronto, and you'll be among the first to get one. I'm gonna check out the website now. Probably shoulda done that before I left a comment.

Olin, I just want to add to Judy's comments (by the way she missed the "y" on "your"). The quality of the production made, basically in your living room, is astounding. Your web site is great!! The Bio was very interesting. Of course I was long gone during most of it and you have never mentioned a lot of it.???? I wish you great success turning your passion into a new career. I really think you should "go for it". I knew you had talents galore and I'm glad you are moving to do something you love. I've played the CD for several people at work, and there are several that are interested in purchasing one. Let me know as soon as they are available. I'm proud of you and I guarentee you I will be "Bragging" that I'm your brother! Good luck! Love ya!

Olin, I am so proud of you! I never realized your passion for music, but as most kids growing up I was in my own world. It was so interesting reading your Bio, most of which I obviously didn't know, but found the Wewoka stories interesting. I have heard so many through the years from Mom, it was nice to read yours as well. Your website is wonderful and your music is amazing. I look forward to getting the chance to listening all of it! Tell Kathy hello and we need to get together again soon! Love you guys!

Man oh man, I am always proud to hear of someone from Wewoka having success... Of course with Kathy by your side we should have known... Your teasers are GREAT!!! I can't get to the sight to buy it... I'm a computer idiot... I'm in Norman almost everyday... Your website is great and all these familiar names bring back a lot of old memories from Wewoka... Even though I'm older than ALL of you, there was a short time our pathes crossed... And I will always remember that and cherish the friendships...

Olin, I am blown away by your music and the web site.I love the bio because of you passion for music and your red clay roots in Wewoka. I listened to your music for the first time tonight and think you are way cool.Let me know when, not if you play a gig. You can count on one maybe two old timers from BIG W in the crowd.I heard some of Jamie's stuff last time I was in T-Town.I loved the art work by David and the reference to Steven T. I will turn Debbie onto your stuff tomorrow. When do we do an encore in Wewoka Statium? I have lots of fond memories from there and places like Wonderland, The Rock and the Oil Leases. Keep on Keeping On!!!! Tom and Debbie

This is so cool! Loved the bio. I was off creating my own life during a lot of that time and didn't know about hardly any of it. It sheds more light on who you are. I'm proud of you! Just knowing what your passion is and then pursuing it with everything you've got is a wonderful and hard-won goal. Love ya.

OK.....you win! You,ve done it before the rest of us, and with impressive results. I'm proud of ya! We've all played with lots of different folks over the years, but I'd have to say that you are one of the most talented guys I've had the pleasure of writing and playing music with. Thanks for the CD, and thanks for allowing me all the sneak previews. This stuff is classic Olin Smith...the keys, the vocals.....great job on the drum programming, and the recording and production are great. Congratulations O!
Barb and I have listened to it several times already....this is great stuff. As you know, I've been wanting to do this for a good long while....and you have inspired me to get off my ass and get busy. You are the man!
Tell Kathy hello and let's get together soon

Olin,I really enjoyed "Hold Me Close".Hearing for the first time at David and Donnas Wedding.Look forward to listening to the rest of your CD.

November 28, 2005
To continue my comment: ...many people say, "That's our song," but Donna and I can say it about "Hold Me Close" and really mean it. My personal favorite is "Are You Buried Deep in There." I think I must have listened to it about a dozen times in a row some months back when I was out on the highway alone. Other favorites are "Siimply Said" and "The Sky Is Pink." Several of the instrumental selections I've got I am extremely fond of, though I don't know the names of them and won't know if they're on this CD until I listen to it all.
Great work, and I pray that you will find your niche in the wonderful world of music. Your compositions should be shared with a wider audience than your friends and family, though I, for one, and grateful for these little gems however I get them.

Olin,
Just got home from Thanksgiving at my mom's in southeast Texas. Was very pleased to have Dream The Good Dream in the mailbox. Will give it a listen tomorrow for sure. I am a bit too pooped from the 8 hr drive to give it my full attention. Time for a beer and about 8 hrs of sleep. The hotmail addy is the one I'll be checking from home the most, but the other (dutcherco.com) is also checked ALMOST daily! :) Looking forward to getting together before Christmas. Rn
